It wasn't for a gold medal but Saturday's game against Cowichan represented a huge opportunity for the Kings build on Friday's win.
They got another big effort from Jeff Smith, a powerplay goal, a shorthanded goal and a full 60 to beat Cowichan 5-2.
After the introduction of some stars of the past – in town for a reunion and game – Kings put the Caps on a steady diet of hustle.
The hard work paid off when Kurt Keats fired a drop pass from Lukosevicius through a screen set up by McCaw at 1:22.
Cowichan's Chichkin wristed a shot from the slot that beat Smith to tie 1-1 at 10:05 but the Kings led 2-1 on another hardworking goal from Luko.
He and his linemates Keats and McCaw were all in tight on Cap's netminder Gusse and number 8 got his first of two on the night at 18:56.
Caps worked a two on one to perfection for their second goal at 5:03 of the middle period but again Kings scored to lead at the break when Rideout's screen shot on the powerplay found the top corner at 16:05.
Kings closed this one out in fine fashion with a lot of hustle and disciplined play that paid off with a shorthanded goal from Lukosevicius at 11:01 and then a wildly celebrated 'Tim Hortons Timbits' empty netter by Drew Dorantes at 19:47 to make the final 5-2.
A great game to end a great weekend that ended the five game losing streak with a couple of well deserved wins.
Kings next face Alberni in a make-up game on Tuesday with a 6:30 start so the Bulldogs can get back on the late ferry.
