Kings on losing end of 7-5 shootout

It wasn't your typical Kings – Clippers game – scoreboard wise that is with the Clippers winning 7-5.

Other than the score the game was hard hitting, exciting and extremely unpredictable as to who would end up on top.

After the unveiling of the new and improved Rocco, makeover supplied by First Credit Union salons and habedashery, the two teams got down to business.

Scarth got the first goal, a one timer on the powerplay, on a beautiful setup from Richardson at 11:42.

Clips answered or maybe a kicked in? a goal to tie it 1-1 after one period.

Clippers scored at 0:55 of the second but Kings Hiff tied it 2-2 on a tipped point shot from Henry.

Clippers struck for two powerplay goals in the middle of the period but James Neil got one back when a shot from Henry was blocked but dropped down for Neil to swipe into the net at 12:38.

That one made it 4-3 but the Clippers got another powerplay goal, their third, at 18:47 to end the second 5-3.

Kings had outshot the Clippers 30-16 after two periods and came out in the third looking like they were going to be able to even the score.

Especially after Drew Dorantes scored on the powerplay at 5:19 but Brenden Forbes slowed them up when he got an even strength marker at 10:43 6-4.

There was no quit in the Kings however and Villeneuve poked a puck off the goal line and in at 12:37 to close to within one 6-5 but time became a factor and with the net empty the Clippers sealed it at 18:58 on a goal from Taylor.

An exciting game for the fans but probably not the way either coach would have drawn it up and look for both teams to settle down in the rematch on Saturday at 5:00 P.M.

Dominion Lending will host a tailgate party prior to Saturday's game with beef dip and chile then lots of exciting action to follow.
