Kings Return for Stretch Drive

The Christmas break official ends today for the Powell River Kings as players return to town and begin preparations for four games in five nights against Island Division opponents, all at the Hap Parker Arena. Following that, it’s the stretch drive through a busy January and February, leading into what is hoped to be a long playoff run.

Wednesday December 30th & Thursday December 31st
Powell River Kings vs Alberni Valley Bulldogs

The Kings are 2-0 against the Bulldogs this season with a 7-0 win in Alberni in September, following that up with a 5-1 win at home at the start of October. Stefan Wornig got the start, and the win in both games. The Bulldogs sit 5th in the Island Division at the break, 3 points back of the Victoria Grizzlies but with 3 games in hand.

Saturday January 2nd & Sunday January 3rd
Powell River Kings vs Nanaimo Clippers

Another opponent that the Kings haven’t seen in a very long time. The Kings played 3 of their opening 4 games against the Clippers, winning a pair of them…but they haven’t seen the Clippers since a September 19th 4-3 road win for the Kings. Nanaimo have been one of the league’s hottest teams since, leading the Island Division and 11 up on the Kings, however Powell River has 3 games in hand.

Sunday’s game is the Grand Prize Draw for the Kings Dream Lottery. Tickets for the lottery and 50/50 Draw are available up to and including the end of the 1st Intermission at every Kings home game, the Town Centre Mall and online via prkingsdreamlottery.ca.

Game tickets for all four contests are available via tickets.powellriverkings.com.
