Kings sunk by the Clippers 6-3

Maybe the Player of the Week or the CJHL rankings are like the front page of Sports Illustrated.

The Kings were indeed cursed or at least that's what it looked like as they struggled at every turn in their game against Nanaimo on Wednesday night.

Then again, it could be the Clippers who have had success against the Kings this year and now have beaten them twice at the Hap Parker Arena.

In a sluggish first period it was the Clippers who got the jump on the Kings and Kyle Kramer set the tone when he came out of the corner with the puck and roofed a beauty over the shoulder of Garteig.

Myles Fitzgerald was the beneficiary of a giveaway by the Kings on their second goal and he snapped it low glove to put the Clips up 2-0.

That seemed to wake up the Kings and Daniel Schuler capitalized on a rebound to pull the them to within one at 2-1 at the end of the first period.

Kings tied it 2-2 at an even minute when Forbes forced a turnover, got it to Shinkaruk and he took a hard shot that rebounded right out to Pettitt who slammed it in.

It would have been nice if the next goal would have been the last because that would hav e meant that Ryan Elliot's first goal in the BHCL would have been the winner.

As it was, he kept the puck that he fired into the net to make it 3-2.

“It's been bugging me for awhile,” he said after the game, “I've never gone that long without a goal in my whole career.”

Klay Kachur set him up when he flew down the wing and laid a hard shot on Pelletier that  came right out to Elliot.

He made no mistake and things were looking up for the Kings.

For all of 30 seconds.

That's how long it took for Nanaimo to respond when Andrew Gladiuk blasted a one timer from the slot to tie it up 3-3.

The third period was all Nanaimo and a powerplay goal by Labrecque and a couple from Cyr put an end to a dismal effort by the Kings.
