Kings take 2-1 series lead

Kings beat the Grizzlies 3-0 on Monday night to take a 2-1 lead in their best of five series.

The two teams played a tight checking, fast paced first period that yielded just five shots apiece on each goal and none of them went in the net.

Grizzlies came out fast on the first shift of the second period but came up empty.

On the next shift it was the Kings turn when Jordan Paddock slapped a shot from the point and J.P. Villeneuve tipped it into the Grizzly net at 2:03.

A wild sequence led to the next Kings goal when Noah Henry unloaded on a Victoria forward and the loose puck went to Hiff who hit Villeneuve with a nice pass. Villeneuve did a bunch of jukin and jiving and then let a wrist shot go that beat Rouleau top glove at 9:17 shorthanded.

Kings didn't sit on the lead but kept the tempo up and held the Griz to 4 shots for a two period total of 9. One of those was a tough save for Imoo who stood his ground on Leo Fitzgerald from the top of the crease.

Into the third and at 1:46 Ripley hit Myles Powell at centre ice then Powell retaliated to hit Ripley. With the ref's arm up for a delayed penalty, Dorantes scooped up the puck and went end to end with a great wrist shot that beat Rouleau for the Kings' third goal at 1:46.

From there the Kings held off the high powered Victoria offense and ended the game with a shot count of 26 –  14 in favour of the Kings.

Another nice game for special teams and a pretty complete 60 minutes all around.

Game four goes at the Hap at 7:00 P.M.
