Kings to open 2023-24 campaign in Merritt

The 2023-24 BCHL schedule was officially released today and it will see the the Kings open the new season on the road in Merritt to take on the Centennials September 22nd. The following week the Kings will be at the Hap for two games to kick off the home schedule. The home opener will be on Friday September 29th versus the Victoria Grizzlies, then the next night on the 30th the Kings will face off against the back to back Fred Page Cup Champions Penticton Vees.

All home games will take place on Friday’s and Saturday’s this season, with 14 of the now 17 teams making a stop at the Hap. The Clippers and Bulldogs will play the most games by a visiting team with both playing 4 times in Powell River while the Capitals and Grizzlies will play at the Hap 3 times.

Aside from the Vees, three other interior conference teams will be making the trek up the Sunshine Coast. The Salmon Arm Silverbacks will be in town on October 28th, followed by the Trail Smoke Eaters in the next game on November 3rd, then on December 1st the Cranbrook Bucks will make their first ever visit to Hap Parker Arena.

The majority of home games will start at 7pm with the exception of Saturday games against Island division opponents which will start at 5pm.

The season will conclude on March 30th with the Kings playing their final 4 games on the road, that includes stops in West Kelowna and Vernon on the final weekend.

Still to be announced are the two games at October’s BCHL Showcase that will take place in Seattle.

March 15 & 16 vs Cowichan Valley Capitals – Final home games

March 30 @ Vernon Vipers – Final game of regular season
