The Powell River Kings Junior A Hockey Club and CJMP 90.1 FM are proud to announce “Hockey Night in Powell River”, a new broadcast partnership for the 2014/2015 BCHL season. CJMP, Powell River’s Community Radio Station, will now broadcast every Saturday night Kings game, home and away, to fans on 90.1 FM, as well as their website, http://www.cjmp.ca.
“This is something that makes a lot of sense” says Kings Marketing and Community Relations Manager, Nadine Porchetta. “The Kings are Powell River’s community owned hockey club, and this deal partners us with Powell River’s community owned radio station.”
Beginning September 20th, when the Kings take on the Chilliwack Chiefs at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack, CJMP will broadcast all 19 Saturday night games during the regular season. “We’ve been looking for ways to add live programming and engage more segments in the community” says Don Mitchinson, member of CJMP Board of Directors. “Saturday night hockey with the Kings is a great way to do both.” Hockey Night in Powell River will air live on CJMP 90.1 FM andhttp://www.cjmp.ca in addition to the full schedule of games to be broadcast on the previously announced Kings Broadcast Network.
CJMP also welcomes the new weekly 30-minute Sports program Kings All Access, hosted by Kings broadcaster, Alex Rawnsley to its Monday night programming. The show will feature player and coach interviews, highlights from the weekend and a preview of the week ahead. “Fans have been asking me for 3 years for a return of “Kings Corner” from many years ago” says Rawnsley. “This is a direct response to that.” Kings All Access will debut Monday, September 22nd at 6:00pm.
“We’re really excited about this agreement with CJMP and the opportunity it provides our hockey club” says Kings Head Coach and General Manager Kent Lewis. “Radio broadcasts have always been a very important way for us to connect with our fans, and we’re happy to work with CJMP in this capacity.”
