Kings unable to avenge Eagles, fall 9-3

BURNABY, BC (April 16, 2021) – In their 8th game of the 2020-21 season, the Powell River Kings (3-4-1) falling to the Surrey Eagles (5-2-1) a score of 9-3 on Friday night. It is the first time this season that the Kings have suffered back-to-back losses, while 9 different players found the back of the net for Surrey.

Powell River opened the scoring 3:05 into the first period with Ben Raymond’s third of the year, but the Eagles responded with a trio of goals to make it a 3-1 score after 20 minutes.

Surrey began the second period with a power play goal from Kieran O’Hearn, but markers from Curtis Gould and Josh Kagan pulled the Kings within one. However, the Eagles would continue to pile on the offence, adding two more goals in the second and three in the third period to close out the night.

Thomas Wardle and Jakob Drapeau split time in the crease for the Kings, making a combined 27 saves on 36 shots. Max Prazma earned the win for the Eagles stopping 30 of 33 shots.

The Kings return to the ice Sunday afternoon against the Coquitlam Express, puck drop is at 1:00PM at Scotia Barn in Burnaby.
