Mid-period Timeout Rule Change

For those of you playing the home game, here’s a small adjustment from the league, impacting the mid-period timeout that came into effect for last season.

At the request of the coaches committee we have made further changes to the mid period stoppage.

The mid period timeout will now be called by the Referee at the first whistle after the 10 minute mark except after a goal, or if there is a power play.  All other calls such as icing, and puck going over the glass will no longer delay this time out. The officials have been instructed to call it as such. Thanks for making the appropriate adjustments to this stoppage, see attached memo for further details.

If memory serves, the old rule was the first whistle after 9 minutes in the period, when even strength. So nothing ground breaking, but just a minor tweak.
