The Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) announced today that the club has completed a significant multi-player trade with the Okotoks Oilers.
The Kings have acquired 2006-born forward Brec Christenson and 2007-born defenceman Joey Gugino from Okotoks.
In exchange, Powell River has sent the playing rights of 2006-born forward Jacob Wingfield, 2007-born forward Eliot Compton, and 2007-born defenceman Tyler Russell to the Oilers.
Christenson, a 6-foot-1, right-shot centre from Edmonton, Alberta, is an NCAA commit to Minnesota State University (Mankato). The physical, high-character forward brings size, compete, and upside to the Kings’ forward group as the organization continues building toward the upcoming season.
Gugino, a 2007-born left-shot defenceman from Buffalo, New York, arrives after a productive stretch with Okotoks and adds mobility and puck-moving ability to the blue line.
The Kings would like to thank Jacob Wingfield, Eliot Compton, and Tyler Russell for their contributions during their time in Powell River. The club wishes them nothing but the best as they continue their careers with the Okotoks Oilers.
