Preview: Kings host Alberni Tuesday before six-straight road games

The Powell River Kings (24-16-1-0) welcome their division rival Alberni Valley Bulldogs (13-18-5-2) Tuesday night looking to extend their winning streak to four games.

The Bulldogs were the last team to beat the Kings at the Hap Parker Arena, but the Kings look finish off a four-game home stand with a perfect record. The Kings combined for 26 goals in the first three games of the home stand with wins over Nanaimo, Prince George and Coquitlam.

Kyle Betts lead the way for the Kings offensively last weekend; he was named the BCHL’s player the week after potting five goals and four assists in the two wins. Many other Kings weren’t far behind including Carter Turnbull (2 G 4 A), Tristan Mullin (4 G 3 A), Jonny Evans (3 G 5 A), Cam Donaldson (4 G 3 A) and Ben Berard (3 G 3 A).

The Kings have a 4-1 record against Alberni this season, but would admit the games have all been very close. The wins include three by just one goal, two in overtime. The most recent meeting on December 10 saw the Kings holding a 2-0 lead after the first period, but Alberni scored four unanswered and took the 4-2 game on the road.
