Second Adamyk Shutout Propels Kings to Third Win

The Powell River Kings have responded to a season long four game skid, by rattling off three straight wins and sweeping aside the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a weekend double header at the Hap Parker Arena.

The Capitals got the first real grade A scoring chance as Niko Esposito-Selivanov was alone in front but stopped point blank by a sprawling Mitch Adamyk to keep the game scoreless. The games first goal came in much the same manner than the Kings scored freely on Friday against the Capitals, on the powerplay. Off a faceoff, a diving Levi Glasman got it into the slot for Ryan Brushett to fire on goal. His first stop was saved, with the rebound out to Ryan Pouliot who put it upstairs into the corner for a 1-0 lead.

Into the 2nd and the Kings continued to solidify their lead, with the insurance again coming on the man advantage. Glasman made a nice play down the right side, ducking under a hit from Olivier Gauthier and then finding Ryan Brushett on a cross-ice pass for a one-timer and Brushett’s 19th of the year and a 2-0 score.

Josh Coblenz made it 3-0 on a pick and roll that saw him tuck a puck around Jack Grant in net for his 7th of the season. That was all the scoring as Mitch Adamyk did the rest, with the Kings throttling the Capitals offence for his second straight shutout.

The Kings wrap a 7-game home stand this coming weekend, a double header against the Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday night.
