Part Two: Special Teams

One big trends through the regular season was that of the powerplay. Here’s a look at how both teams handled the man-advantage in the 8 games between the two teams:

Powerplay: 8/36 (22.22%)
Penalty Kill: 25/38 (65.79%)
Powerplay: 13/38 (34.21%)
Penalty Kill: 28/36 (77.78%)

The Victoria team finished up the regular season tops of the league with the man advantage, a very impressive 23.26%, half a point above the Warriors and just over 2 points ahead of the Kings (6th).

The Kings know that the kill must continue to be good. Both sides of the special teams scenario have been trending upwards in recent weeks for Powell River, and that’s needed to continue for a successful playoff series against the Grizzlies.

Tomorrow, we’ll look at the goaltending match up as it has played out through the regular season.
