Timbits for everyone

Kings treated 706 fans to Tim Bits when they blanked the Bulldogs 5-0 on Saturday evening.

A pretty solid performance from beginning to end as Jeff Smith earned his second shutout of the year stopping all 26 Bulldogs shots.

Matt Scarth continued his goal a game streak with the first one of the game at 13:00 on a great setup from Kurt Keats.

Scarth returned the favour at 1:26 of the second with a nice feed to Keats who deked LaCouvee and tucked it in for a 2-0 lead.

Keats was also in on the third goal with a nifty saucer pass to Nogard who redirected it in at 4:11.

Drew Dorantes got into the act at 16:53 to close a strong second period when Coleshaw spotted him on a two on one and Dorantes took the pass, deked to his backhand and put in goal number four.

Kings kept up the pressure in the third and Dorantes finished the scoring with an end to end rush and as he cut to the net, slid the puck under the goalie.

A well deserved win and shutout for the Kings who dominated throughout this contest and complete the sweep of the weekend series.

Nonetheless, Kings expected nothing but a battle from the Dogs.

"We don't treat them like a last place team," said Dorantes, "they still work hard, backcheck hard and coming in we knew this was going to be a tough test and we needed to deliver two big wins."

"Good on the guys for doing that."

Kings next action is mid-week with a game Wednesday in Nanaimo and then Thursday at Alberni Valley. Both start at 7 P.M.
