Vees 4 Kings 3

Kings lost a tough decision to the Vees on Tuesday night when they failed, once again, to defend a lead.

They played a near perfect 59 minute plus game but that's not good enough in the Fred Page Cup final and it cost them in overtime.

For most of this game the Kings had control with a capital 'C' as they won the battles, laid the body and scored a few goals.

Cohen Adair stuffed a rebound in at 3:33 of the first period and then MacDonald came out from behind and slammed the puck by Katunar at 18:03.

Up 2-0 after two periods and looking extremely confident Kings kept up the pressure but gave up a late goal from Stecher whose shot slid in from the point at 15:16.

Vees, now within a goal, came out with a little more urgency in the third, but the Kings were still looking strong and went up by two when Adair worked his magic out from the corner and threw the puck up in the net at 9:19.

Feeling very good with the way the game was going, perhaps the Kings got a glimpse of the future when Buchanan floated a soft shot all the way in from the point by Maguire.

Kings maintained their composure but winning a game in the FPC doesn't come easy and at with a mere 17 seconds left, Travis St Denis tied the game with all kinds of traffic in front of the net.

Into overtime we go a weak breakout turned into a two on one for the Vees.
Wade Murphy got the puck in the slot and put the puck on Maguire who had the winning goal slide five hole at 5:03.

Crushed but not done yet. The Kings find themselves down 3-0 in the series despite playing some great hockey. Character runs deep on this team and if a great effort in the first three games wasn't good enough then they will come with an even better one on Wednesday night.

Game time is 7:00 P.M.
