Abgrall scores his first career hat-trick in a Kings 8-3 win over Victoria

Chilliwack, BC – Michael Abgrall scored his first career hat-trick, and the Powell River Kings (7-3) defeated the Victoria Grizzlies 8-3 on Wednesday evening at the BCHL Showcase.

Michael Abgrall, age 15, becomes the youngest player since the 2003-04 season to score three goals in a BCHL regular season game.

The Kings had a 5-1 lead until the Grizzlies scored twice towards the end of the second to make it a 5-3 going into the third. The Kings would put the game out of reach with three unanswered goals in the third.

With the win, the Kings improve to 8-1 at the BCHL Showcase since the 2015-16 season.

Reilly Moran tallied three assists, Christian Buono scored his first of the year, and Jacob Badal and Jacob Slipec each scored their first goals in a Kings uniform. Powell River is now two points behind the Cowichan Valley Capitals for first in the Island Division.

It will be another quick turn around tomorrow as the Kings take on the Langley Rivermen at 1:00 p.m., at the final day of the BCHL Showcase. The Kings completed their sixth of nine road games, and their first of four games in five days this week.

All of the action will be available on Hockey TV.
