Dylan Finlay commits to the University of Alaska – Anchorage

The Powell River Kings are thrilled to announce that defenseman Dylan Finlay has committed to play NCAA division 1 hockey next season at the University of Alaska – Anchorage!

The 20 year old defender out of L’Île-Bizard Quebec first joined the team for the 2019-20 season playing in 40 games as a rookie. He would then go on to play south of the border for the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL during the 2020-21 campaign before returning to Powell River this past season to wrap up his junior career where he would serve as team captain.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to play division one hockey. I can’t thank my teammates, Brock, Chad, Kyle and the rest of the Kings organization enough for helping me get to this point” – Dylan Finlay

Dylan played in 89 games as a King over two seasons collecting 6 goals and 34 assists.

“We are very happy for Dylan and his family that he has earned the opportunity continue his hockey career, while furthering his education. He has faced a lot of adversity this past season but always stuck to what makes him the great person that he is. We couldn’t be happier for him to overcome the obstacles in his way to achieve his goal of playing division 1 hockey in Alaska” – Head Coach Brock Sawyer

Dylan will join former Kings teammate Rowan Miller (Prince George Spruce Kings) and former Surrey Eagles captain Jimmy Darby as the 3 BCHL players that will be part of the Seawolves freshman class next season.
