What’s What for the Kings
A thunderous return for the Kings last night against a talented and strong Westside team. The Kings did just about everything right last night, starting from the net out. Sean Maguire was good when he was tested, but he wasn’t truely tested much, as the defence in front of him did an excellent job steering chances to the outside and blocking shots. Up front, the powerplay was the force, scoring 4 goals and creating many more opportunities. Even 5-on-5, while it was relatively even between the Kings and the Warriors, the Kings created more opportunities and used their speed to create an advantage against the Warriors blue liners.

Evan Richardson, Teagan Waugh, Sean Maguire and Jordan Paddock begin their camps in Langley, so Brody Coulter, Mitch Ball, Robert Zadra and Cameron Large draw into the lineup for tonight’s game. Large, a 92-born Goaltender, played with the Spruce Kings last season, while Coulter and Ball have already suited up for the Kings this season. Robert Zadra, a 94-born defenceman, has been suiting up with the Victoria Cougars this year and will play in a 7-man defensive rotation tonight.

What’s What for the Smoke Eaters
The Smokies come into town after an overtime loss to the Chilliwack Chiefs at Prospera. The ability to rebound after that loss will go a long way in determining if the Smokies can win tonight. On paper, the Kings are a better team, but that’s why they play the games, as the talent on paper doesn’t always indicate victory. The Kings have experienced that already this season, against a Merritt side that had won only once prior to knocking off the Kings.
