Kings 5 Grizzlies 2

Kings didn't play the Grizzlies until a week ago and by the end of the week they will have met three times.

Hopefully the third game will end in similar fashion as the Kings won the first 4-0 last week in Victoria and on Friday at the Hap they perservered to win 5-2.

Just like they did last week in Victoria, the Kings got to clean up some teddy bears, but a lot earlier and in their own barn.

Just three minutes into the game, the Ron Armitage Player of the Month, Craig Dalrymple scored on the powerplay.

His goal was the only one in the first period but the Kings relinquished the lead after a rash of penalties and a couple of Grizzly powerplay goals in the second period.

Kings finally recovered to score twice when Waugh batted a Dalrymple rebound into the net and Adair rushed down the wing to take a shot from a bad angle and the puck popped off the shoulder of Rockafellow and rolled into the net.

After that things took a turn for the worst and it started with a non-call on a Robertson/Richardson hit that, in the ensuing play turned into a Richardson major for his hit on Robertson.

While Richardson headed to the dressing room, Robertson lie on the ice for a good 5 minutes then had to be helped by two teammates off the ice. He looked very, very seriously injured.

Grizzlies went on the five minute powerplay and Robertson was on the first shift of the third period for a minute and 15 seconds and returned a minute later for another turn on the powerplay.

It was nice to see the young man bounce back from barely being able to stand up to taking a regular shift 20 minutes later.

The game returned to it's earlier pace and the Kings stymied the attack of the Grizzlies until Schuler stole the puck and broke free to beat Rockafellow high on the glove side to lead 4-2.

Scarth got the empty netter with some good work by the Kings on the wall and 5-2 was the final.

"We took too many offensive zone penalties," said assistant coach Chad van Diemen after the game.

"We know that and a couple of guys sat some shifts for that," he said adding, "we've got to stay out of the box."

"When we play five on five we're pretty good," perhaps an understatement by the coach.
