Kings Acquire Ben Brunette from Carleton Place

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The Powell River Kings acquired defenceman Ben Brunette from the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) in exchange for future considerations.

The 2002 born blueliner played in 58 games last season for the Canadians, collecting 7 goals, 18 assists and 60 penalty minutes. Prior to that he played 2 seasons in the Great North Midget League with the North Bay Trappers.

Last season, the North Bay, ON product participated in the 2020 CJHL Top Prospects game and was named to the CCHL’s All-Rookie Team. In April 2019, Brunette committed to the UMass Lowell hockey program.

“We are fortunate enough to make a deal with Carleton Place to bring Ben to our organization,” states general manager Chad van Diemen. “He is a young defenceman who can provide and play a lot of minutes in all situations in our league moving forward, and he is also committed to a great NCAA program in UMass Lowell.”
