Kings announce leadership group for 2020-21 season

POWELL RIVER, BC – The Powell River Kings are proud to announce their leadership group for the 2020-21 season.

Dylan Finlay has been named team captain while Ethan Schmunk, Nolan Krogfoss and Peter Muzyka will serve as alternate captains and form the remainder of the team’s leadership core.

Finlay, originally from L’Île-Bizard, QC, finished his first season with the Kings, totalling 18 points (0G-18A) and 16 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games in his rookie year. The 2001-born defenceman has committed to play college hockey at the University of Vermont.

Schmunk, a Powell River native, shared alternate captain duties during the 2019-20 season. He enters his third and final season with the Kings, having played in 116 games. Last season, Schmunk recorded 30 points (13G-17A) in 49 games. In the 2020 BCHL Playoffs, he added five points (3G-2A) in five games.

The Kings signed Krogfoss midway through the 2018-19 season. Hailing from Cloverdale, the 2001-born forward begins his second full season with the Kings after registering 13 points (7G-6A) last year. Krogfoss was also named the Powell River Kings’ Most Improved Player for the 2019-20 campaign.

Muzyka was acquired via trade on September 24, 2020 from the Penticton Vees. This will be his second stint in the BCHL, having last played in the league in 2018-19. The 6-foot-4 defenceman from Toronto, Ontario brings collegiate experience to the roster, having spent the 2019-20 season as a member of Cornell University’s men’s hockey team.

The Kings will begin their 2020 exhibition schedule tomorrow (Sunday, November 8) against the Cowichan Valley Capitals. Puck drop is 2:00PM PT at the Cowichan Community Centre in Duncan. The game will be broadcast live on 95.7 Coast FM and on BCHL TV.
