Kings Clip Clippers, Win 3-0

Jamie Phillips had his mother in town, and if he’s going to continue to earn shutouts with her in attendence, the team might just have to buy her a house. It was a quiet but confidence performance from the Kings netminder, as he backstopped the team to a big 3-0 win

The scoring started early for the Kings, just 3:26 into the contest, Matt Scarth got a deflection in front from a Carter Shinkaruk shot from the faceoff circle and it made it 1-0 Kings. A tight, tense and physical game through the 2nd resulted in no scoring until midway through the 3rd period. Cohen Adair initially had a goal denied after it was adjudged he batted the puck out of mid air with a high stick. The goal was initially called good, however called back upon review after the officials discussed it.

The Kings would get their revenge though, through a Chris Williams point shot to get his 1st of the season and make it 2-0 Kings. The Clippers would get into penalty trouble late, with the Kings having a late 5-on-3 advantage, but once it went to 5-on-4 the Clippers pulled their goalie and allowed James Neil to battle his way to the net to score his first BCHL goal on the empty cage and seal the deal with a 3-0 win.
