Kings Double Grizzlies, Win Game 3 4-2

Kings vs Victoria 03.17-0065

A goal 48-seconds in helped set the tone for the Kings to get back into the Island Division Final series with a 4-2 win over Victoria on Monday night.

  • Any time you get a goal as early as the Kings did on Monday, you know it’s going to be a good game. Both the first two goals (Keats and Scarth) were perfect examples of what can happen when you get shots on goal. The Kings got more shots in the 2nd (21) period on Monday night than they did in game 1 (14), and almost as many as they did in game 2 (25).
  • For me, one of the best Kings on Monday was Stephen Hiff, although the whole line of Jarryd Leung and Luke Nogard played well. Lots of turnovers caused and some good chances around the goal. It’s an effort that was needed and helped set the tone for the other players to follow.
  • Jonah Imoo looked calm and settled in net for his first start in a while. Despite seeing action in the last 2 games, and 3 games in this playoffs, this was his first start of the playoffs and down the stretch run. Just a nice solid effort that gave his team a chance to win.
  • At the other end, Nic Renyard never looked comfortable. 2 pretty soft goals where he didn’t get in close to the post and Kings players found holes. Even the 3rd was a slight overplay and a nice shot from Scarfo. On the plus side, Renyard’s glove was excellent, making some key stops through traffic.
