Kings Double-up on Caps, Win 6-3

The Kings got back in the win column in a big way, scoring 3 in the first and 3 in the 3rd en route to a 6-3 victory over the Capitals on Sunday afternoon.

Here’s some notes from the game:

  • Drew Dorantes was a game-day decision, however wound up playing and scoring a pair. It was his 150th Junior A game, with time split between the Kings and the Tri-City Storm in the USHL. Drew’s also notched at least a point in all but 1 game this season.
  • Matt Scarth returned from a 15-game spell on the sidelines following a leg injury and played very well. His pair gives him a goal-a-game through 5 contests this year. His most impressive play perhaps was an assist on Luke Nogard’s 3rd period marker.
  • Jonah Imoo responded well from being pulled on Friday night. He let in a tough one (Horsman), but bounced back from both the Friday loss and the 2nd period goal to provide a real solid presence in net for a depleted Kings blue-line.

Here’s what Chad van Diemen had to say after the win:

November record moves to 2-2. There 7 games remaining in the calendar month. 10-game home stand record goes to 5-3 with two games remaining. The Kings have a share of 1st overall in the BCHL with 31 points (tied with Langley, but have 3 games in hand). Prince George is a point back (Kings 4 in hand), with Penticton (even) and Merritt (4 in hand) 2 points back on 29.

The Kings entertain Alberni on Friday and Saturday to wrap the 10-game homestand.
