Kings host Chiefs in Play off Action

Kings Host Chiefs

Series begins Tuesday

 

The Powell River Kings begin the second round of the play offs on Tuesday March 9th when they host the Langley Chiefs. The Kings finished off the Cowichan Valley Capitals in five games while the Chiefs got past the Surrey Eagles in six. In the six regular season meetings the Kings posted a record of 4-1-1-0 while outscoring the Chiefs 33-21. Special teams were big as well with the Kings running a 33.33% power play to the Chiefs 16%.

 

In the post season so far the Kings are led by Matt Garbowsky (5-7=12pts), Daniel Carr (4-5=9pts), Jordan Grant (3-5=8pts) and Mat Bodie (1-6=7pts). Between the pipes Josh Watson has played every minute for the Kings posting a 4-1 record with a 1.80 GAA and 91.59 save %. Special teams have been good with 32.26% power play and a 93.30% penalty kill.  

 

For the Chiefs it?s Colten Beck (3-8=11pts), Josh Myers (4-5=9pts), Jordan Sims (4-3=7pts) and Mac Roy (3-4=7pts). Both Wyatt Galley and Mark Friesen have seen action in net for the Chiefs in the play offs. Galley 4-1 record with 2.36 GAA and 93.12 save % while Friesen 0-1 3.45 GAA and 86.21 save %. The Chiefs power play comes in at 33.33% to a 71.43% penalty kill.

 

The Kings have home ice advantage in the series with games one and two on Tuesday and Wednesday March 9th and 10th. The series shifts to Langley with games three and four on Friday and Saturday. If necessary game five would be back in Powell River on Monday March 15th with a game seven on the Wednesday the 17th. All games of this series in Powell River begin at 7pm.
