Kings to Chiefs – That’s a big 10-4 over and out.

Anyway you say it, Kings clobbered the Chiefs on Thursday night 10-4 in a game you would have to say was pretty typical between these two teams.

Kings generally get out to a lead, then there's a bunch of physical stuff and all the while the Kings start to pile up the goals.

That's how it went on Thursday night as the Kings jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period.

Justin DaSilva got it started at 7:38 when he went down the left wing and wristed a shot from the faceoff circle to start Wyatt Galley's nightmare.

Carr one timed a nice Pettitt pass for the second Kings' goal and after Langley got on the board Kings answered just 10 seconds later on Carr's second of the game – a roof shot that drew aaahs from the crowd.

Mitch Labreche got the second started at 0:12 when he caught Galley off guard and backhanded in the Kings 4th goal.

Langley drew to 4-3 on a couple of goals but again the Kings responded when Pettitt scored twice and DaSilva got his second of the night.

Oh, and did we mention the thunderous check by Chad Niddery on Joe Walter?  The check was a clean one that was felt by all 800 people in the building and although wobbley, Walter made it on his own steam to the Langley bench.

The third started with the Kings holding a 7-3 lead and things got a little out of hand when the officials missed a blatant elbow on Reid Campbell by Josh Myers.

Kings answered the bell big time when DaSilva laid a couple of heavy checks on Myers and full credit to all the boys for stepping up their physical play.

After the dust settled, Kings still had some jump left and pumped in three more goals on Galley to make the final 10-4.

Forbes, Shinkaruk and Pettitt with his hattrick goal rounded out the scoring for the Kings.

Just another high scoring rockem-sockem game with Langley.

“Oh yeah,” smiled Cody Rainaldi, “the adrenaline is flowing every time we play those guys – you know it's going to be a rough game.”

Nice to get down and dirty but Rainaldi is conscious of the big picture.

“We have to focus on the minor details and be doing the right things so we're successful in the playoffs.”

The win clinches second spot in the conference and relieves the pressure of their last scheduled game in Victoria.

“We can go in there with smiles on our faces,” he said, “and have a good hard working game and I'm sure we'll come out on top.”

Playoffs start on February 26 and Kings' opponent will be the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a best of seven series.

Caps beat the Kings 3-1 in their last meeting and have been hot of late with a record of 6-3-0-1 in their last ten games.
