The Kings are excited to announce the signing of 2006 born goaltender Erik Powers for the 2025-26 season!
“I’m really excited to be coming out to Powell River. It seems like a great community and a beautiful place to be.” says Powers “I’m looking forward to joining the team and getting involved both on and off the ice.”
Powers is from Invermere and stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall. He split time last season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League with the King Rebellion and the Aurora Tigers. In 23 total games he compiled at 3.85 GAA and a .913 sv% to go along with 2 shutouts. “Erik is a southpaw goalie with a big frame” says Head Coach and G.M. Stephan Seeger Jr. “He never gives up on second and third opportunities and will make a save by any means necessary. He is a fighter between the pipes.”
It is set to be an all Invermere duo in net this season with fellow Invermere native Ryan Tamelin slated to return. The two goalies have known each other for many years and Powers is looking forward to forming a tandem with his friend. “I’m truly excited to reunite with Ryan.” adds Powers “We’ve been teammates since the start of our goaltending careers, and while our paths separated after our U15 days, we’ve always maintained contact and a strong friendship. I’m excited to play and grow together with Ryan this upcoming season.”
