Kings Beaten 5-3 against Langley

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

The Rivermen chose to deliver it on ice tonight, as they skated to a well earned 5-3 win against the previously undefeated Powell River Kings. The loss takes the Kings record to 6-1 on the season and .500 on the road.

The Rivermen opened the scoring at the beautiful Langley Events Centre just 4 minutes in as Mario Puskarich got the Rivermen on the board, with the assists going to Darnell Dyck and Mike Tebbutt. The Kings would get back on even terms with the Langley side 8 minutes later as a string of penalties to both sides and various 4-on-4 opportunities ended with a Kings powerplay goal, the 2nd of the season for the team, to Craig Dalrymple with a nice wrister through traffic that found the net, assists to Jon Jutzi and Steve Schmidt. 5 minutes later, the same combination teamed up again, this time Dalrymple blasted it from the point, 2-1 Kings.

It stayed that way into the 3rd period, where the Rivermen scored on the man advantage themselves, with Esposito scoring on Sean Maguire to tie the game up at 2. Cohen Adair would then bang in a rebound just as a powerplay was over after Steve Schmidt’s initial attempt was stopped by Langley netminder Jim Kruger to give the Kings the lead 3-2.

That’s all the scoring the Kings would get tonight, as Langley got back even right at the end of the 2nd period, with a weak writer on Sean Maguire somehow got through and sent the home team into the dressing room with momentum. Less than a minute into the 3rd, Langley scored again to take the lead for the final time, before Mario Puskarich completed the hattrick with an empty net goal, 5-3 Rivermen.
