Kings drop 5-3 decision to Eagles

BURNABY (April 25, 2021) – Three unanswered goals in the third period led the Surrey Eagles to a 5-3 win over the Powell River Kings on Sunday afternoon.

A shorthanded, unassisted marker from Buddy Johnson opened the scoring for Surrey at 7:23. Tyden McWillis tied the game for the Kings at 11:23 with his third of the season. The Eagles were able to restore the lead with Holden Katzalay converting on the power play at 17:48

In the late stages of the second period, Powell River tied the game at two on the man advantage with Adamo Santia’s ninth of the year. The tally extended the Kings’ streak of seven consecutive games with a power play goal

Surrey took control in the final frame, with Christian Fitzgerald only needing 34 seconds to break the tie. Alec Saretzky added another goal 27 seconds later and Fitzgerald notched his second of the afternoon at 6:06 to secure the victory.

Max Prazma made 25 saves in the winning effort for the Eagles while Jakob Drapeau stopped 29 of 34 shots for Powell River.

The Kings return to the ice later this week for a re-match against the Eagles, an 8pm puck drop on Wednesday.
